A Race, a Movie, and a Nasty Spill

So we've had a fun past couple of weeks! The last day of September I did a race in Boulder. It was small, the "open" division of a college cross country race that the University of Colorado put on. It was fun to see the college teams warming up for their races in their matching collegiate uniforms and warm-ups and remember the good ol' days. It was also fun to push my limits in a 6K again and feel that post-race lung burn. Then, that night we got to go see our sister Emily's movie, Pirates of the Great Salt Lake in a film festival in Boulder. It was HILARIOUS and Em was FANTASTIC. Then we had General Conference weekend, which of course is always very nice.
The following weekend Aaron went on a group ride in Boulder and had a little mis-hap. Just 5 miles into the ride he was cruising down a hill at 40+ MPH and got out of control. He skidded across the road (thank goodness there wasn't an oncoming car at the moment) and headed into a ditch. As he flew over his handle-bars and slammed onto the side of the mountain, there was some definite damage done to his previously "never broken a bone if you don't count cutting off a finger" body. The other riders in the group stopped to make sure he was okay and one of the guys who claimed to be an ER Doctor said he had definitely broken his collar-bone. It was alarming to receive a phone call that he had been injured, but when I went to pick him up I was glad to find him in one piece, just a little scraped up and crippled at the clavicle. I'm quite familiar with this injury actually, having broken MY collar-bone twice in my life. The worst part is that he did not get to finish his Saturday ride and will be out at least a few weeks. A week later, he seems to be feeling a great deal better though, so it must be healing well.
Anyway, that is the excitement in our lives! The pics below are of me racing and the kids being cute.

Glad you're ok Aaron. I'm sure everything happened in slow motion. Sounds like a scary experience. So Nan, how'd your race in Boulder go? Did you show the college girls how a real woman runs?

Yes indeed, I did! Much slower than non-real-women! But with a much cuter fan club. :)
