Nan is the Champion...my friends!

I have to post some major congratulations to my amazing wife for accomplishing two of her major life goals in her first marathon on May 19 at the Ogden Marathon!
  1. She did the marathon in sub-3 hours in a time of 2:58:33 and
  2. She took 1st place for females in the marathon!
I'm a proud husband today, you can tell. But do you blame me? I personally couldn't even come close to running a marathon right now let alone doing it in a 6:48 min/mile pace. And that is 1 year after having her 2nd child. She trained consistently and raced her best and what a rewarding experience it was. I had a blast watching the marathon because I rode my bike with my brother in law Matt from Salt Lake up to Ogden canyon so that we could ride alongside the runners. It was really cool as we were cruising up Ogden canyon at about the 20 mile marker to see Nan coming down the canyon as the first female - I was stoked! Then I cruised back to see how far the 2nd place female was and she was a quarter mile back. Nan had passed her at mile 18 and was gaining time. I checked her competition's pace and then I went back up to Nan to give her the report and let her know that she was still gaining on the girl. It was nice for Nan I think because when you're out in front like that it can be a bit nerve wracking wondering where the competition is.

She beat the 2nd place female by about 5 minutes taking 1st place and an $1100 prize - which by the way is probably worth about 2 dollars per hour for all her training and definitely is not worth it if that is what she was in it for, but she didn't complain a whole ton about getting it.

Now that Nan has accomplished her life goals in running what is she supposed to do now? That is the question as of late. I think that I foresee some serious cycling in Nan's future or Duathlons perhaps, but we will see.
