Happy First Birthday to ABE!

Thanks to everyone for coming to Abe's birthday bash on Friday, July 15th. It was fun having you all there that could make it. Here is what went down:
  • We had an inaugural BBQ for our recently finished backyard
  • We ate some fruit pizza and Abe(with the help of his cousins) opened up some gifts.
  • We had some good times on the croquet course. Dad appeared to be coming through with two wins in a row, nearly proving himself to be an unstoppable croquet force, when at the last minute, Manon become poison, and came out of nowhere to take out Dad and become the champion of the second round.
  • We went old school and broke out the 'ol original settlers of catan with Jake and Manon after most people were gone, too bad for you most people, you missed out.

I think Abe's cousins may have had more fun opening some of his presents than he did, since he's not quite aware of what presents and birthdays are at this point.

Demolition Derby

Thanks to Jake and Manon for bringing us to the wonderfully enlightening event of Demolition Derby at the July 4th celebration for Ogden city. Nan's chosen favorite, as shown below...

ended up taking 2nd place over all in the final show down between 24 cars. My car however was much less fortunate....

Maple Grove on July 4th

We had a fun trip camping down in Maple Grove over the 4th of July weekend. It was nice and relaxing just hanging out by the stream and in front of the camp fire. It was great to have all the kennard siblings there. Elisse and the girls were here from Texas and even Ashley made it with only a week left to go before delivering her new son Crispin Douglas Jensen exactly a week from the day this photos was taken.
As you can see below, abe finally dozed off in front of the fire after about a 3 hour struggle.

Abe took a journey in the backpack up to the famous eye above Maple Grove which was adventurous. He took it pretty well, I don't even think he cared that I was hiking along a two foot wide path next to a 500 foot drop off a couple different times.
